External Battery for MSI Wind / Akoya Mini – Pimp My Akku

August14

Since buying my MSI Wind / Akoya Mini I am on the lookout for more juice. My dream is having the Laptop last longer than I do during a typical day.

I am not there yet, but hope prevails. Since projects like theses “homemade 9 cell battery” or these “6 cell available in the states” seem to take forever I went for this option instead:

Philips Power2Go SCE7640/10

Besides still having too little capacity (rated 1Ah at 19V), it has a few advantages over the MSI 6 cell battery: You can use it to power basically any small laptop, mobile phone or gadget. I comes with a brazillion different tips to accomodate many devices.

To put things into perspective, together with the included 3-cell accumulator, which seems to have 6,6 Ah of capacity, the extra 8 A of capacity from the PowerPack give me roughly 4-5 hours of use, which equals approx. half a workday.

One added bonus is, that the MSI Wind/Akoya Mini included power adapter works nicely with the Power2Go Pack! So loading the Laptop and loading the PowerPack in one fell swoop is quite nice. Once I set off after a few hours I have my (in total) 6,6 cell battery ready to go.

Resold it! Capacity is still to low. I am eagerly awaiting the Mugen/lionbattery.com 7800 mAh pack. Tap…tap…
